On October 20th, Zhao Jing, Researcher Fellow from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Macau, gave a webinar for the College of Communications Engineering (CCE). The webinar was presided over by Dr. Gao Jinwu and attended by nearly hundreds of CCE teachers and students.
Mr. Zhao delivered an academic report entitled "Machine learning and its applications from machine learning science to machine learning Engineering". He started by sharing the role of machine learning in vehicle engineering and focused on the vehicle drivability evaluation system based on online machine learning algorithms. In the report, Mr. Zhao reviewed the definitions of drivability and the merits and demerits of current drivability evaluation software, and elaborated on the cutting-edge technologies such as the design of real-time vehicle processing and analysis system and the real-time online evaluation and correction of drivability. He concluded the webinar with an in-depth discussion with the teachers and students and a Q&A session on the key issues. The report drew active participation from the audience and was highly received.
Mr. Zhao Jing is a research fellow of the Department of Electromechanical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Macau. He is also a research fellow of the University of Hong Kong, an adjunct professor at South China University of Technology, and a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan, the University of Tsukuba, the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and the University of Chicago. His research focuses on vehicle dynamics and control, ADAS, fluid mechanics and finite element analysis, as well as intelligent structures and materials, with over 90 papers published in journals and conference.
