On July 1, Professor Chao LU from Hong Kong Polytechnic University was invited to our university for academic exchanges, and the academic report meeting was held at the Nanhu campus. Representatives of teachers and students of our college attended the report meeting, which was presided over by the Dean, Zhao Xiaohui.

Professor Chao LU gave an academic report entitled “Ultra Large Capacity Optical Fiber Communication System: Status Quo and Where it is Heading”. He firstly introduced the related technologies of optical fiber communication from the perspective of a combination of theory and practice, reviewed and summarized the development process of optical fiber communication. At the meeting, Professor Chao LU elaborated on the cutting-edge technology of large-capacity coherent optical communication systems by means of cases, and pointed out that the research of optical fiber nonlinear problems is an important development direction of optical fiber communication in the future. Finally, Professor LU briefly introduced the basic situation of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s research team, and took questions from teachers and students on the spot enthusiastically and patiently.

Teachers and students of our college gained a deeper understanding of optical fiber communication from this academic report meeting, and all of them expressed hope to participate in more academic exchange activities of such kind.
